These positions are based out of various office locations throughout the city. Interested parties should have at least one year of relevant work experience and must have a minimum level 2 English language proficiency.

City Of Toronto Jobs Hiring Now For 5 Winter Positions

The administration of 42 indoor arenas and 53 outdoor artificial ice rinks are both handled by the City of Toronto. They are looking to fill a variety of positions in the ski, skate, and snowboard industries as winter draws closer. There are ten part-time positions available, and the pay ranges from $15.50 to $21.19 per hour.

At both indoor and outdoor rinks, the city of Toronto provides a variety of programs for recreational and instructional skating. Some of these programs include Instructional Skate, Leisure Skate, Hockey, Figure Skate, Sledge Hockey, and Shinny Hockey. Additionally, Scarborough is home to two rinks that are operational throughout the entire year.

The Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre, which can be found in the city of Toronto, is home to some of the best ski hills in the region in addition to offering a variety of classes and lessons for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. Below you will find information regarding the available positions, as well as the application deadlines and responsibilities associated with each.

1. Skate Programs Head Instructor-Toronto/East York District

  • The cost per hour is $21.19
  • The deadline is on December 14th.

Included in the list of responsibilities are the following items:

  • It is your responsibility to provide skating programs with coordination, direction, and instruction.
  • Contributes to the process of recruiting, educating, and managing volunteers, assistants, and instructors.
  • Controls the procedures for the examinations, and teaches classes as required.

  • complies with all of the safety and policy requirements that are outlined in the relevant procedure and policy manuals.
  • Performs administrative tasks to assist the program overall.
  • acts in response to occurrences, accidents, issues, and emergencies in order to resolve them.
  • Participates in the preparation of and the direction of extraordinary events.
  • Participates in meetings and training sessions while also attending those events.
  • Makes certain that employees plan and carry out programs in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the Healthy Child Development (HIGH FIVE®) initiative.

2. Leisure Skate Coordinator – Toronto/East York District

  • The cost per hour is $19.14
  • The deadline is on December 14th.

The following is a list of the responsibilities of a coordinator for leisure skates:

  • Ensure proper coordination, administration, and implementation of the Leisure Skate Programs, as well as direction for these activities.
  • Manage the staff and assist with the recruitment, selection, training, orientation, and overall supervision of part-time employees.
  • Contribute to the planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation of special events
    Visit programs and locations as necessary.
  • Ensures that appropriate staffing levels are preserved for the program.
  • Make sure that all of the safety policies and recommendations that are outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manuals are adhered to.
  • Ensures that the location, equipment, and supplies used in the program are in accordance with applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Act in response to incidents such as accidents, problems, and emergency situations in accordance with divisional rules and procedures.
  • Engages in conversation with both participants and staff.
  • Participates in meetings and training sessions while also attending those events.
  • As required, travels from location to location.

3. Leisure Skate Location In-Charge – Toronto/East York District

  • The cost per hour is $17.21
  • The deadline is on December 14th.

Included in the list of responsibilities are the following items:

  • Manages, directs, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Leisure Skate Program location.
  • Contributes to the onboarding and orientation of employees working part-time hours.
    Maintains Command of the Rink Guards
  • Make sure that all of the guidelines and recommendations for safety that are outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manuals are followed.
  • The facility as well as the program are both monitored and controlled for access.
  • Ensures that the location, equipment, and supplies used in the program are in accordance with applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Participates in the response to occurrences, accidents, issues, and emergencies in accordance with the policies and procedures of the division.
  • Engages in conversation with both participants and staff.
  • Organize, plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate special events
  • Make sure that activities related to recreational skating are monitored and regulated.
  • Participates in meetings and training sessions while also attending those events.
  • In the process of planning and carrying out the program, the staff must be held accountable for adhering to the Healthy Child Development (HIGH FIVE®) principles.

4. Rink Guard – Toronto/East York District

    • $15.50 an hour is the charge.
    • Date of expiration: the 14th of December
  • Skating for recreational purposes is monitored and subject to regulation.
  • Ensures a secure environment for skating
  • Access to the facility or program is regulated, directed, and monitored by this department.
  • Takes action to address occurrences, accidents, issues, and emergencies, as specified in the divisional rules and procedures.
  • Engages in conversation with both the attendees and the staff.
  • Participates in the planning and carrying out of extraordinary events
  • Participates in meetings and training sessions while also attending these events.
  • Program planning and implementation are carried out in accordance with the High Five® principles for healthy child growth and development.

5. Scarborough District Facility Attendant (Facility Attendant)

    • $15.50 an hour is the charge.
    • Date of expiration: the 14th of December
  • Provides assistance to facility and recreation staff in the maintenance of a safe recreational environment for individuals who have permits, participants, and the general public.
  • Controls the opening and closing of the building as well as the activation and deactivation of the security systems.
  • Information about the facilities is provided to renters, users, and staff of the institution, and questions are answered by the facility manager.
  • Ensures that members of the general public comply with policies established by the division
  • Performs regular cleaning duties as required.
  • Ensures that everything is set up for the participants and permit holders, as well as monitors how the space is being used.
  • Performs administrative tasks to assist the program overall.
  • Contributes to the ongoing efforts of the emergency response team that is currently in place.
  • It is your responsibility to complete the shift report in the facility logbook, making sure that all of the pertinent information is recorded and shared with your coworkers.
  • Provides assistance to the facility maintenance staff during the annual maintenance downtime.
  • As required by the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, comply with all applicable safety regulations.
