DAAD Scholarships: If you are already in Germany in the first academic year of a 2-year postgraduate or Master’s program at the time of application, you may apply for a scholarship for the second year of study. The DAAD scholarships are awarded to students who want to complete a full-time course of study with mandatory attendance in Germany. The applicant should have completed their Bachelor’s degree, not more than in the last 6 years. The applicant should have at least two years of proven work experience.

DAAD scholarship requirements aren’t too difficult to meet. To secure DAAD funding, applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree or be in their final year of studies. There is no upper age limit, although there may be a maximum time between finishing your bachelor’s and taking up a DAAD grant.

The application form is available from your chosen higher education institution, from uni-assist, or from the Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung (only in German). As a general rule, you will need the following documents: An officially certified copy of your higher education entrance qualification.

The minimum requirement to apply for a DAAD scholarship normally is an IELTS (band 6) certificate or TOEFL (minimum score 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, and 80 internet-based). German: For those courses taught in German, a DSH 2 or Test DaF 4 certificate is necessary for matriculation.

DAAD Development Related Postgraduate Courses Masters Scholarships

The DAAD Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS) Scholarships 2023/2024 are now open for applications. DAAD EPOS Scholarships are awarded to foreign students from developing and newly industrialized countries to study for a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Germany.

With its development-oriented postgraduate study programs, the DAAD promotes the training of specialists from development and newly industrialized countries. The scholarships offer foreign graduates from development and newly industrialized countries from all disciplines and with at least two years of professional experience the chance to take a postgraduate or Master’s degree at a state or state-recognized German university, and in exceptional cases to take a doctoral degree and to obtain a university qualification (Master’s/PhD) in Germany.

The Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) 2023-2024 is a scholarship in Germany that targets students who come from developing countries. Many students from these developing countries apply and they are approved for the DAAD scholarship and they get the opportunity to be enrolled in various universities in Germany.

The students are award these DAAD scholarships to study courses that are taught in both German and English languages. The DAAD scholarship is however not available for undergraduates and is only for postgraduate students. To be approve for the DAAD scholarship, a student has to show proof of two years of working experience.

Scholarship value/inclusions/duration:

The scholarships include monthly payments of 861 euros for graduates or 1,200 euros for doctoral candidates; payments towards health, accident, and personal liability insurance cover; and travel allowance unless these expenses are covered by the home country or another source of funding.

The scholarship duration is 12 to 24 months (depending on the particular institution) for Masters and 42 months for Ph.D.

Eligibility:

The typical scholarship holder:

  1. Is currently working either for a public authority or a state or private company in a developing country and, as such, is engage in the planning and execution of directives and projects with an emphasis on development policies having a bearing on technological, economic or social areas
  2. Holds a Bachelor’s degree (normally four years) in a related subject.
  3. Has completed an academic degree with far above average results (upper third) and at least two years of related professional experience after the first degree (bachelor) at the time of application
  4. His/her academic degrees should normally not be more than six years old.
  5. For study courses in German (scholarship includes a 6-month German language course): Successful passing of the language examination DSH 2 or TestDaF 4 before the start of the study course. Therefore a minimum German language level of B1 at the time of application is a requirement, that needs to be proof by providing a certificate.
  6. For courses in English: IELTS (Band 6) certificate or TOEFL (minimum score: 550 paper based, 213 computer-based, 80 internets based).
