Although CVs are less relevant in this modern era of online recruitment, they can still be useful and they remain an integral part of the job application process. For anyone looking to create their own CV, it can seem like an incredibly daunting task, especially if you are trying to do it alone without any guidance or support. For this reason, we have created this step-by-step guide on how to create your CV in 7 simple steps. We hope that our guide will allow you to make the most of your CV and will help you find your dream job faster than ever before!

Create Your CV

Creating your CV can seem like quite a daunting task, especially if you’ve never done it before! But actually, there are only three steps to it, once you know how to do it. Luckily for you, in this article, we’re going to break down these three steps and help you create your CV in three simple steps! Follow along!

What is Curriculum Vitae (CV)?

A curriculum vitae (CV) is a document that summarizes your education, employment, and other qualifications. A good CV will be tailored to each job application so it’s important to know how to write one professionally. If you’re having trouble writing yours, don’t worry: we’ve got you covered.

Most people think of a CV as being quite long, but you don’t need to go into great detail about each job you’ve had. Simply write up a short paragraph for each job and use bullet points or numbers to summarize your experience (one or two sentences will do). A few other things you might want to include on your CV are voluntary work, activities, conferences, and courses attended and any awards you might have won. If there are gaps in your employment history or other parts of your education that need explaining, be sure to put them in a separate section at the end of your document.

Create Your CV In 7 Simple Steps – Here’s How!

Creating your CV can be an arduous task and one that you’re probably dreading, but it doesn’t have to be so hard! Our guide to creating your CV in 7 simple steps will take the stress out of creating your CV, and make it much easier to do too! Follow our simple steps to create your CV in no time at all!

Here are the 7 steps:

Step 1. Download Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word is a program that will help you format your CV. It may take some time to get used to, but it’s a good investment since it’s used by many professionals and universities across Canada. There are other options, like Google Docs or Pages, but they may not give you full functionality as Microsoft Word does. Click here to go to Microsoft Word.

Step 2. Enter Personal Details

You will be asked to fill in your personal details such as first name, last name, phone number, address, and email address. Be sure to enter a unique email address you can use later on. Also, make sure to include any other information that may be relevant such as educational qualifications or previous job experience. This step should take no more than 2 minutes of your time.

Step 3. Insert Work Experience

This is one of those sections that can often be tricky to fill out. For each job, you want to make sure to include when you were employed (month and year), what your job title was, what your specific responsibilities were, and how long you held that position. It’s also worth noting how your experience has helped inform your skillset for future jobs—which will come in handy during step 4. After completing all of these fields, click Next to move on.

Step 4. Determine what sort of job you want

Before you start your CV, it’s best to have a good idea of what kind of job you’re looking for. Ask yourself questions like: What kind of company do I want to work for? Where do I want to work? What kind of work would be interesting and fulfilling? How much money do I need to make? These are all important considerations. You should also get in touch with people in your network who might be able to help you find a job, by introducing you to employers or possible mentors. Just ask them if they know anyone who is hiring someone with your skillset, and ask if they could put you in touch.

Step 5. Take nothing less than your dream job

Next, it’s time to put your application together. Remember, you’re not just applying for any job. You’re looking for a career. And careers are built step-by-step, one foot in front of another—that’s how you go from zero experience to a dream job in record time. Pick out all of your references and put them on your resume now (Don’t wait until an interviewer asks you!). This is critical because if an employer has to ask, Who will vouch for you? or who can I call? they might decide they don’t like your answer and toss your application into their round file.

Step 6. Create your CV as a personal brand

You may think of your job history and qualifications as your CV but think again. While this is good information to include, a CV is about more than just your previous jobs or education. It should also include how you operate in different settings and with different people, and how you plan to develop professionally in years to come. At its most basic, your professional brand is what everyone else sees of you when they look at your resume and references. It encapsulates all that you do as an employee—your talents, work ethic, and personal values—and what kind of person you are; someone who takes initiative and wants to learn new things and bring others up with them.

Step 7. What a successful CV looks like

The very word cv is derived from curriculum vitae, which translates to course of life. It refers to an outline of a person’s life, giving a snapshot view of their experience and education. A successful CV will summarize these details in an easily readable format, typically with 3-4 pages in length. There are no strict rules for what your cv should look like, but if you’re having trouble creating yours it may be time to talk to a career counselor or recruiter for guidance. Remember that recruiters have probably seen thousands of cvs and understand what works best so take their advice seriously.

Choose From +32 CV Templates

Regardless of where you’re trying to get your foot in the door, one of these 32 templates should make putting together a resume a quick, easy process. Choose Here

Conclusion

So there you have it. It’s not very hard to put together your personal statement. The key is to follow our step-by-step guide and be sure to proofread your personal statement at least three times before submission, asking a friend or family member each time to look over it. Once you do that, there’s no reason why you can’t get accepted into your dream university. Good luck!
