The music is uplifting, there are no complicated moves to learn and you can bring your own energy. It’s also an effective way to make friends while you exercise; Zumba parties are popular around the world! Just remember that learning what is Zumba fitness takes time; it’s not like other types of classes or activities where you can jump right in after a quick introduction.

What are classes like?

Because there are no formal dance steps to learn when doing Zumba, almost anyone can join a class. Instructors will usually begin by providing a few basic dance steps as well as form pointers for proper positioning of arms and legs. After that, you’re on your own! Classes tend to be fast-paced with instructors weaving in different styles of music (cumbia, salsa, merengue) throughout the workout session.

These tracks are specifically produced for Zumba so that they have an energetic beat without being too fast or inappropriate for fitness. They also feature upbeat lyrics instead of song verses because instructors need to be able to talk through each song while leading their students through it.

The instructor training process

When you’re looking to become a certified instructor with any fitness program, there are many factors to consider. You’ll need ample space in which to train. You may have questions about what equipment you need or where to find it. This can be especially true if you’re working with one of the more specialty-based programs such as Zumba®, which has its own unique set of requirements. To get ready for your next training session, consider these steps.

As with any program, it’s important to do your research first. Your instructor certification class should be accredited by a reputable accrediting body. It should also cover an adequate amount of material so that you’re well-prepared for teaching your own classes. The same goes for training manuals or lesson plans – they should follow industry standards as well as focus on real-world examples that can be applied in various settings around town.

What are the apparel options?

What are your options when it comes to Zumba apparel? There are several ways you can customize your gear depending on what your needs are. Do you want clothes that wick away sweat? Ones that stretch and move with you through dance moves like spins, jumps, lunges, and kicks?.

Or do you prefer something cute for after class or for heading out for a fun night out with friends? A variety of items from fitness wear to activewear allow you to mix-and-match colors as well as add additional layers (like capris) for when it gets colder. History of Zumba

In 1999, Colombia native Alberto Beto Perez took a vacation to New York City. One night while out at a club with friends, he asked his localhost to bring him two women who were dancing in his direction. Turns out they were dancers for Beto’s favorite Colombian singer: Elvis Crespo. When Elvis found out what Beto did for a living—he was training aerobics instructors back home in Bogota—he persuaded him to stay in New York. On November 15 of that year, Beto officially launched his first class: Zumbará, which means you will dance in Spanish.

Today there are now more than 15 million Zumba members in more than 200 countries taking classes six days a week. The company launched in 2001 to teach fitness professionals how to teach Latin-inspired choreography in their own studio settings. But it wasn’t until 2004 that Beto really began formulating his global franchise plan after meeting Alberto Perlman, the CEO of Reebok’s parent company at the time: Adidas-Salomon (now owned by German sporting goods company Puma). In 2005, Elvis Crespo left his job as an entertainment lawyer to join Beto and Perlman as part of Zumbini Dance Company.
