OCSBconnect is a service that allows Grade 7 to 12 students. To submit anonymous tips on incidents of bullying, student safety. And crime to school staff by phone, text, or mobile app. This service, was request by our students. Strives to make our schools safer and more welcoming by providing students with a tool. That allows them to report bullying incidents without putting their own safety at risk.

The OCDSB has Wi-Fi technology in all of our schools and administrative buildings. All equipment purchased by the OCDSB meets current Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineers and Department of Communications specifications and, Health Canada’s Safety Code 6 standards.

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board will continue to monitor its approach for the use of learning and business technologies given the guidance and direction provided by the relevant federal and provincial agencies.

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB, known as English-language Public District School Board No. 25 prior to 1999 refers to both the institution responsible for the operation of all English public schools in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, and its governing body. History

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board was create on 1 January 1998 in accordance with Ontario provincial government legislation including merging of the former adjacent Carleton Board of Education and the Ottawa Board of Education. The headquarters of the amalgamate school district is locate at the former headquarters of the Carleton Board of Education at 133 Greenbank Road, Nepean.

Historically, and to this day, the OCDSB is one of the very few school boards in Ontario with an advisory council on the arts providing input and annual reports to the board of trustees. In 2009-2010 the OCDSB tried to shut down the Alternative program, a group of students and parents from Lady Evelyn Alt teamed up with a trustee and won the Review.

In 2017 a family was award approximately $3,000 after winning a lawsuit against the OCDSB over the board’s failure to take a student’s complaints about bullying seriously. As of 2018 two former students filed lawsuits against the OCDSB for failing its “legal duty to provide for the safety of its students”.

In 2019 an investigation was launch to look into what ultimately result in three sex offense charges against OCDSB teacher Majed Turk in July 2020. The alleged incidents occurre between September and November 2019. As of 2020, there were ongoing lawsuits filed against the OCDSB for the sexual abuse of its students by the now-deceased teacher and Bell High School basketball coach, Donald Greenham.

If you don’t recognize the devices listed on your router’s web interface, change the WiFi password. This will require all connections to re-enter the new password before they are allowed network access again.

How To Set up Guest WiFi

Often, creating a guest WiFi network is as simple as changing your preferences. Most routers allow you to add additional networks simply by logging into the administrator settings.

Modern routers have options to customize guest WiFi access, like setting how many guests can access the network, times they can be connected, and network broadcasting for automatic connection. Follow the steps below to update your router settings to add a guest network.

  • Step 1: Find the router in your browser. Find your router’s IP address in the user manual or on the back of the router and enter it into your browser’s search bar.

  • Step 3: Change the existing network settings. Find your wireless settings or router settings and choose the option to allow a guest network or access.
  • Step 4: Set the network name. Once guest WiFi is enable, set the name of the network in the SSID field. By default, most routers will add “-guest” at the end of the existing network name.

As of 2017, the Wi-Fi Alliance consisted of more than 800 companies from around the world. As of 2019, over 3.05 billion Wi-Fi-enable devices are shipp(ed) globally each year.

Wi-Fi uses multiple parts of the IEEE 802 protocol family and is designed to interwork seamlessly with its wired sibling, Ethernet. Compatible devices can network through wireless access points to each other as well as to wired devices and the Internet. The different versions of Wi-Fi are specified by various IEEE 802.11 protocol standards. With the different radio technologies determining radio bands, and the maximum ranges, and speeds that may be achieved.
