What Is A Skilled Worker?
A skilled worker is any worker who has special skill, training, knowledge which they can then apply to their work. A skilled worker may have attended a college, university or technical school. Alternatively, a skilled worker may have learned their skills on the job.

Are You Eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Program?
You must have a minimum of 12-months of full-time, skilled work experience, or an equivalent amount in part-time experience. Before you can apply for the federal skilled worker program, you must satisfy any of the following:
- Already have a job offer
- Be eligible to work in Canada
- Can prove that you have enough money to support yourself when you get to Canada
- And have a minimum of 1 year, full-time skilled work experience
- Have a post-secondary certificate, degree, or diploma
- Meet the minimum language levels in either English or French
- Plan to live outside the Quebec province.
If you meet any of the requirements above, then you’re fully eligible to apply for the FSW program.
What Kind Of Work Experience Do I Need?
You must have either Skill Type 0, Skill Level A, or Skill Level B work experience on the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC).
Additionally, your work experience must be either full-time or the equivalent hours part-time. By full-time, it means you must have worked at least 30 hours per week. You must have get such work experience within the past 10 years.
NOTE: These limits do not apply to you if you have a permanent job offer.

Federal Skilled Worker Point System
Before you can apply as an FSW, you need a minimum of 67 points. You get different points based on:
- Your abilities in English and/or French (Canada’s 2 official languages)
- Your education
- And Your age
- Your work experiences
- Your adaptability
- If you have arranged employment in Canada
