The University of Winnipeg is pleased to announce the creation of 53 new entrance scholarships for international students who will be entering The University of Winnipeg for the first time.

Louis Casault, a priest who taught physics at the SΓ©minaire de QuΓ©bec. Went to Europe to seek a royal charter and study the best university systems there.

The SΓ©minaire de QuΓ©bec was grant a royal charter on December 8, 1852, by Queen Victoria. At the request of Lord Elgin (Governor-General of the Province of Canada). Creating UniversitΓ© Laval with “the rights and privileges of a university”. The charter was sign in 1852. Pope Benedict XV approve the plan and authorize the institution to establish chairs of theology and confer degrees.
